Hmmmm................

Hmmm maybe all of the adoption paper work is good. N and I really do not like our current Dr office and have been meaning to change but we have been so busy. Well today I made myself call and change to a new Dr. Even though I thought it would not take affect until June. Surprise! It takes affect today and better yet they have a notary in the office. This is great for us because the last Dr. Didn't and we would have had to find a notary and have them come with us to the Dr. Office and notarize the forms. So 1 less thing to worry about! And this make N have to go in for a check up which he hates LOL. So all around this will make my life easier!

I really want to be DTC(Documents to China) by the end of July but I do not think this is very realistic lol. If I wasn't in school I am sure we could do it faster. It is very frustrating for N and I to have to spend so much time on finals and not be able to really start the paper work.

Warning Paper Rant ahead............................

Well yesterday we received the packet of forms from the home study agency and let me tell you it is SCARY! Maybe it is just so terrifying because N and I are heading into finals and everything seems like a big deal right now. I have started some of the papers but when I look at the amount I swear there has to be 3x the amount of the last time we did a home study. I suspect it has to do with state requirements. Our packet also had information about what Maryland requires and it is a great deal more than VA. I have to be honest and say that some of the forms we are required to feel out make me pretty angry. I mean we have to send of a form to verify that N and I are not on the registered sex offenders list. I have already done this before for a job many years ago where I worked with children but lets be honest it says a lot about what most people think about those that want to adopt. We also have to have references, financial forms......And have to have a positive net worth lol. I mean in this day and age how many people N's age have a positive net worth. All I can say is thank heavens we bought a house. Now as irritated as all of the forms make me I am HAPPY to fill them out to be able to have a child. I believe the world would be a better place if everyone who was going to have a child by any means also had to fill them out.

Links to Ladybugs and other Chinese adoption traditions

I was looking for some background on the signifigance of ladybugs and Chinese adoption and found this page that listed a small bit of background information. I also found this book on Amazon.com, which is a children's story about adoption from China.

Home study

Well today N interviewed the social worker we are going to use for our adoption. We really like her and she answered all of our questions. Things seem to be going well so lets hope it continues! Also N was cleaning out some legos he bought a while ago and in it he found a little ladybug toy! For those who do not know seeing a ladybug is supposed to be good news when trying to adopt from China. I know there is a story surrounding this but will have to find and post it later.

Decisions Made

N and I have picked an agency and are now waiting for approval. Wow picking an agency was much harder than I imagined. Most agencies seem great but you know you are going to be dealing with them for at least 18 months or so and this make it so hard to decide. We are so excited and yet the 18months seems like such a long time.
